In July, recent updates to PHP, WordPress, themes, and plugins caused critical issues with our website originally designed in 2014. We tried to update the site, but it crashed and a backup had to be recovered. Changes we wanted could not be made on that old website.

An immediate redevelopment was required. Luckily, we already had a new website design in progress though not quite ready for content or to be revealed.

Fixing issues on our newly designed website

Since then setting up our website with a new theme and plugins also came with many challenges too.

One main issue was a glitch in pagination of the Content Calendar that we launched online in April. Different views (search, list, months, day) would not load for our external audience. It took multiple rebuilds of the new website to finally figure out the problem.

The main culprit was a conflict with new and old plugins. As this is an ongoing maintenance issue for all WordPress websites, let us know if you see anything that doesn’t look quite right at any time.

Moving forward with the new website design

We aim to improve accessibility, and avoid further conflicts between outdated components to ensure behind-the-scene changes will not impact to your experience.

The next step is to update branding and content such as:

  • Blog posts prior to 2019 are no longer public, and some will be repurposed. Our e-newsletter subscribers will receive notice in a RSS feed email each month for blog updates, and may opt out of this email mailing list at any time.
  • Pages will be updated as we change our services. For instance, we are setting up affiliate marketing services to feature green products.
